MAJID NAGRA
The youngest of seven children, brought up in the toughest part of London made him "streetwise". After being expelled from school, he went on to turn his life around, and now works with youth centres and charities whilst running his own business. He was selected to be on "The Apprentice" and found that to be a roller coaster ride.

DENISE ELCOTT
While in Geriatric Nursing, Denise formed the African-Caribbean Society. She changes career to Social Care in the London Borough of Brent. She set up a residential care unit for black people. She describes in vivid terms "What is a Black Woman Like?".

From humble beginnings in a single parent family, David describes how he progressed through school into his career to become the highest ranked black officer in the British armed forces.

In the face of under-achievement at school by black children, the African Caribbean Community Development Forum (ACCDF) started these awards to encourage them.
