Proms in the Park

Amazingly, the rain stopped just in time for the event to proceed without discomforting the atendees who came prepared wearing patriotic costumes and hats, and waving union jacks to the music. Many brought picnics, seats and rugs and sat alongside the highly illuminated priory church of St Peter watching the spectacle.

The BBC provided massive screens and speaker systems together with coloured lighting and musical water fountains. The programme for the evening included Dunstable town Band and singer Leanne Chuck as well as the transmission of the Proms Concert from the Albert Hall.

In previos years the BBcs outside transmissions had been at the national capitals, at Hyde Park in London, in Cardiff, Glasgow and Belfast. But this year Dunstable had also been privileged to be selected.

The concert marked the finale of this years "music in the park" events run by Dunstable Town Council and it finished with a fireworks display.
