SCENES

Fed Up

By Paul and Sue Clarke

(View of nest with nothing happening. No sound.)

(Fade slowly to view of garden)

Mrs Robin

Three meals a day may sound alright to you.

Mrs Robin

But my kids need much more.

Mrs Robin

I didn’t really want as many as six. But that’s life.

(Close-up view of Mrs Robin in garden.)

Mrs Robin

And they need twenty meals an hour – or they’ll die.

Mrs Robin

That’s one meal every three minutes.

Mrs Robin

So I must dash.

(Start of "hectic" music. Repeated sequence of shots:

    1. Mrs Robin collecting grubs from lawn
    2. flying down garden path
    3. flying along side passage
    4. chicks mouths open
    5. feed chicks
    6. flying out of side passage
    7. flying up garden
    8. perching to spot grubs in lawn
    9. pouncing onto grubs and picking them up)

(When at nest)

Mrs Robin

Now which ones shall I feed this time?

(When she sees the Blackbird.)

Mrs Robin

That lazy blackbird has nothing to do but bathe.

(Camera pans down rapidly. Blackbird splashes in bird bath.)

(When Mrs Robin picks lump of white litter out of nest.)

Mrs Robin

Oh. What a mess this nest is becoming. Pass me that litter. Thanks. Bye.

(She continues feeding sequence till the end.)

Mr Robin

You didn’t think she did all that on her own, did you? That was me too!

(View of two Robins on summerhouse roof.)

(Fade out)
